You Can Call Me Mrs. T
It's official! Today I turned in my old social security card, along with my old name. In two weeks I will receive my new card, get my drivers license and I will be ready to roll! Most importantly, I will be able to change my name at work. With my new SS card I can finally be allowed change my name at work. Since my office is the one place were people are most likely to address me by my last name, making the change there will help to speed the adjustment.
In other news, Flounder and I was seriously looking into getting a cat. There is a one in particular, a petite black cat living with a foster family in out town. We are looking forward to meeting her tomorrow.

Heartbreak With A Tune
I would like to break the legs of the woman who divorced Greg Laswell.
Mr. Bad Apologies shot me an email this morning to fill me in on how he has been spending his iTunes bux. His picked up a lavishly depressing song by Greg Laswell called High and Low. When I listened to it on the NPR website (see previous link) the song of loss sounded slightly familiar, the way a really great soundtrack song can. It seems like something from your life somehow. Anyway...It came to me, I heard the interview on NPR's Day to Day with Laswell where he explained that he wrote the entire album in response to his divorce. I was surprised to learn that the songs he put on the album weren't even the lost revealing and personal of the songs he wrote post-divorce. It's hard to imagine how raw and sad those songs would be.
High and Low now lands in the pile of songs that will forever remind me of Mr. Bad Apologies. It will be keeping good company with Dave Matthew's Two Step, Dion's Runaround Sue, Fiona Apple's Hunger Hurts, Radiohead's Creep and a ton of others.
All that said, Greg Laswell is seriously worth a listen. Just don't break him out for the first time after a bad day. You might not be able to make it all the way through.

**do not read if you have not seen the third episode**
There goes my Project Runway underdog. I was very sad to see her go. It does seem that the designers have really stepped it up this season. In the first season it seemed that mediocre designers sometimes hung on much longer than they deserved because there were so many other terrible designers. Example: Robert. In season 2 a good designer could have major mishap (Santino's skating outfit? Please!) and still stay in the game. This season, if you aren't completely on your game you are a hairs breath from elimination. Unless you are Angela for some reason...so help me she better be next!
Now let's look at Bradley for a moment. I am I the only one who thought that Bradley's hastily thrown together outfit was just a poor mans imitation for Daniel V.'s Orchid inspired ensemble from last season?
Bradley - Season 3
Daniel V. - Season 2
See what I am saying? I can't believe none of the judges said anything. Shock!
Anyway, the real news is according to the preview of next week we will finally find out who is getting tossed from the competition for breaking the rules! Goodie! I am right now laying my money on Keith for the no doggie outfit/bracelet fiasco. You heard it here first!

Wallpaper is Evil
Removing wallpaper from old plaster walls is a task that should be assigned to only the most evil and vile bastards in the deepest darkest corner of hell.
That's all I have to say about that.

On The Runway
How happy am I that Project Runway season 3 is finally here? I am not going to take up a lot of time and space rattling on about why the show is so great. Straight to the point! I have watched the casting special for season 3 and watched the first episode twice, I feel ready to lay down my money and pick my horses.
My Final Three:
Kayne
Why? Because his first design was rather innovative and pretty. I like the idea of the Okie leaving his pageant world behind and put those garment making skills to real use.
Keith
Why? I think this guy could be the next phenom. The dress he sent down the runway was the first dress he ever made? And all he had to work with was navy blue bedsheets? Wow.
Michael
Why? Two words. Coffee Filters. Now I will admit he has a major hurdle to jump make it to the top. Michael Korrs doesn't truck with booty shorts. I have faith.
And my Wild Card:
Katherine
Why? I really don't know, I just like her. I highly doubt she will make it into the top 10, but I would love it if she did!

Multiple Choice
Last night while celebrating Maryment's birthday, the question arose -- why does no one leave comments anymore? Following in Ms. WAS's foot steps, I decided to ask a provocative question to drive my readers to comment. At first I was going to torture poor Fliven and ask you to make perdictions about his love life, but in the life of day, that choice seems unnecessarily cruel. So instead I will shine the spotlight back on myself.
As you may know, I am happiest when I have a project to muse over. This isn't something I always take action on right way (or let's face it, ever). Since the wedding is over, I have had many future projects shuffling around in my head, so much so that I am having trouble focusing on just one. This is where you come in. I would like my reading public to vote on with of my distracting projects I should focus on now!
A)
The Car Hunt? Flounder and I have discussed shopping for a new commuter car this coming winter. But which one to buy? Should I spend the next few months feverishly hunting for the perfect car for us?
B)
Home Improvements? We have also discussed making some major changes to the kitchen and exterior of the house in the next 12-24 months. There are so many choices! So much to learn! Should becomeing more knowledgeable about my options and their costs be my focus?
C)
Exercise Routine? My gym membership has gone under-utilized for far too long. Should I focus on really getting my moneys worth from my gym, take advantage of its programs and my health?
D)
Training for the Adventure? Before "Starting a Family" Flounder and I plan on taking an adventure packed trip that would be difficult or impossible to take with small children. We have not yet picked the destination, but we know we want to test ourselves a bit with some strenuous (my my standards) hiking. Should I make training for this adventure my focus?
E) None of the Above? Do you have a different project to suggest? Now is your change.
Vote Now!

Thom Yorke

How I love that crazy bugger! Actually, I have no idea if the talented Radiohead front man is crazy. The lazy eye and ultra-depressive lyrics have lead to (perhaps not rightly) assume a few things about the man. Nutty or not, while with Radiohead have written and recorded two of my favorite songs of all time: Left Down (OK Computer) and There There (Hail to the Thief). All that said, I am greatly anticipating Thom's first solo album, The Eraser. I have heard bits and pieces of a few tracks and am getting quite excited. Cross your fingers for my sake that there some real gems on the album.

Happy Birthday Maryment!

I would like to wish Ms. A Little Maryment a very happy birthday today!

My NEW Big Blue Bag

This is my first blue purse, but far from my first BIG purse. I usually go with black bags, or brown. Then again I have had red, rich green and transparent plastic leopard printed bags I have loved. All of these bags have been large, oversized infact. Why this museing on the bags that have gone before? Mi Mama recently commented on the pink and green canvas LL Bean tote I have been draging around since April. She pointed out that it a bit large. I looks at it, then at her and pointed out that my bags are always bigger than they need to be and that I like them that way. It was then I realized that my love for big bags is a defining characteristic. Now and again I have flirted with a little bag, but never found the satisfaction I was looking for. I love being able to purchase a book, sandwich, or bottle of water and be able to leave the plastic bag at the counter because it will fit in my handbag! I love almost always having a pen or whatever my fellow travelers might ask to borrow. Mint perhaps? Need a Post-it? A therapist my tell you it all links back to my desire to be needed, that being prepared to outfit world with gum and napkins is a typical behavior of overweight women who feel compelled to take care of others. Whatever! Like my bag because it allows me to be ready for anything. Besides it is a delightfully Smurfy blue!
All hail the big bag!
